POLICY MANUAL –
Archery Range
The policy manual(s) are to be read in
conjunction with all common Firearms and Range Safety Manuals as well as the
directives and By-Laws of the Mission and District Rod and Gun Club, and the
RSO Handbook. Members should be familiar
with applicable Canadian and Provincial Firearms Legislation and govern
themselves accordingly.
ARCHERY RANGE
– GENERAL
DESCRIPTION:
The Archery Range consists of 2 areas, the 2D area is set at the front area of the property
across from the skeet fields. The 3D area starts just up the road that runs beside
the left side NW corner of the pond. The targets are numbered from 1-20. The
route goes across the back of the shotgun ranges, through the old archery 2D
location then around back of the property to the south east corner of the pond.
RANGE
SCHEDULE:
The Archery
range is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. Scheduling of events is posted on the website
and on the club calendar in the clubhouse.
It is recommended that members check the club website before leaving for
the range to avoid conflict with a scheduled event.

2D
Range
No
broad heads are to be used on the target butts, also only paper or burlap
targets are to be pinned to the target faces.
Shooters are asked to hold the bow
level through the entire drawing and aiming process.
Shooters
also need to ensure that the line is clear and no arrows are nocked or
crossbows cocked while someone is down range.
No arrows are to be used with field
tips larger than the shaft of the arrow.
Bows are to be placed in the racks
provided or hung on the wall before proceeding downrange
Never brace or draw another’s bow
without prior consent from the owner.
3D
Range
No
broad heads are to be used on the 3D targets, archers must touch a stake while shooting
at the targets and archers should chose a set of
stakes that match your ability. One shot per target, second shots are to be
taken only on a clear miss of the first arrow.

Please keep groups limited to 4
shooters maximum. No group shall hold up other groups while searching for lost
arrows, slow groups should allow faster groups to play through. Shooters are
also cautioned to leave one member of their group or their equipment in from of
the target if they are searching for lost arrows as a warning for other groups
following behind.
Shooters are responsible for their
arrows, do not shoot if the group ahead of is not clear of the target area or
you are unsure if the area is clear, remember that a bow and arrows are a
deadly weapon protect your sport by being careful and sure when you shoot.
Do not leave the trails and be alert
to others that are on the course, do not run or go backwards on the trails
without making your presence known to groups that might be behind you.
Archers are cautioned that when
pulling arrows from the targets do not stand directly behind the arrow as you
pull it. If the arrow breaks free suddenly you will discover that the arrow
nock is sharp enough to cut, not following this advice is the cause of the most
common accident in archery.
TARGETS
& BUTTS:
The targets and butts are maintained
by designated volunteers. Problems can
be directed to the caretaker who will contact those designated for
repairs. No targets other than paper or
burlap are permitted on the target butts. 3D targets are not to be moved and
only field points no larger than the arrow shaft are permitted.
BB/Pellet/paintball or any other firearms are not allowed to be shot at the
targets.
DEER
& BEARS:
On
occasion, wildlife may appear on this range, in which case all firing will
cease until the animals clear the range proper.
MISCELLANEOUS:
The Mission and District Rod and
Gun Club is a Society with a membership approaching
3000 members, all of which are volunteers.
This is your Club and your assistance in keeping its facilities clean
and undamaged is greatly appreciated.

Membership Cards must be worn at all times while on Club Property
